On July 19th, the 7th China Finance Summit themed "New Journey of China’s Economics in New Era" was held in Beijing. SM China was awarded the “2018 Excellent Brand” for its widely recognized brand influence in China. Ms. Johanna Melissa N. Rupisan, Head of Operations for SM China, received the award on behalf of SM China.

    China Finance Summit, established in 2012 by the Chinese financial industry and the mass media, is the most influential exchange platform in Chinese financial sector. Corporations recognized as "2018 Excellent Brands" were selected by the organizing committee through social survey and were judged by the panel which consists of famous institutions, experts and leading figures in mass media. 

 

    After 60 years development, SM Group, founded by Mr. Henry Sy, Sr., a Filipino of Chinese descent, in 1958, is composed of 5 listed companies.     During the summit, Ms. Johanna accepted the media’s interview and introduced the successful operating experience and advantages of SM China. She said, with the heritage of retail gene and 30 years’ experience in malls operation, SM China stands always with the customers and provides them with “All for you” shopping experience. In the meantime, we advocate “People Help People” and spare no effort in fulfilling our social responsibility.

    SM China brought a series of programs from SM Cares and keep innovate them to better support China’s community development, environment sustainability as well as people in need. 

 

    This is the 8th year that SM China host public welfare activities such as Earth Hour and SM Children’s Book Reading Day. For the 2018 Earth Hour activity with the theme of Start My 60+ Life, SM called on actions in our daily life to protect our environment. For the 2018 SM Children’s Book Reading day, SM has introduced Little Free Library – a nonprofit organization’s project into all the malls of SM China officially, total 160 square meters area in SM China malls and more than 800 new books have been provided for the launch to create a fun and free reading zone to encourage children to read better. Take a book and return a book, through the largest Little Free Library in China, SM China hopes to cultivate reading habits among children and let them enjoy the beauty of sharing. 

 

    SM China also cooperates with China Children and Teenagers' Foundation and initiated “SM Children’s Happy Home Donation” project with Sichuan as the first stop. The first Children’s Happy Home donated by SM will be launched at Leshan city, Sichuan Province in the second half of 2018. In the future, SM plans to donate in Xiamen, Suzhou, Chongqing, Shandong and Tianjin to provide a home for children where they can study, play and have psychological consultation.
