       On the 16th Annual Conference of Mall China International Symposium held on September 4th, with its 60 years of glorious history, SM has been awarded 3 Mall China Golden Mall Awards for its prominent performance in China’s commercial real estate industry, which again shows the leading position of SM in Southeast Asia. Mr. Steven T. Tan, Chief Operating Officer of SM Supermalls received the award on behalf of SM China.

       SM City Chengdu Co., Ltd has been recognized as “Mall China Golden Mall Awards 2018 Excellence Business Management Company” for its prominent performance in business management as well as leading capacity of professional market performance. Under the award category of “Mall China Community Shopping Center Awards 2018 Key Study and Demonstration Project” which targeted at community shopping centers, SM City Chongqing has been awarded the award based on its industrial recognition of project planning, tenant mix and sustainability.

       For her outstanding professionalism and industry influence, Ms. Johanna Melissa N. Rupisan, head of operations for SM China, has been awarded “Mall China Golden Mall Awards 2018 Outstanding Industry Leader”.

       Founded in 2002, Mall China is the earliest non-beneficial and professional service providing organization in China’s real estate industry. Mall China annual award started in 2006, now has great reputation and recognized by the industry with its principle of fair, open and public-oriented. It now has become the important reference of evaluating China’s mall development.


       On September 5th, Annual Conference of Mall China also held International Symposium & Asia-Pacific Shopping Center Service Competitiveness Summit, which gathered leaders from Asia-Pacific shopping centers with new visions and new ideas, and launched high-end dialogues which discussing worldwide shopping center industry transformation, Asia-Pacific shopping center industry new trends and changes as well as the anticipation of retail industry. Mr. Steven T. Tan was invited to speak at the panel discussion themed “The Development of Global Shopping Center Industry/Retail and the Strengths & Weaknesses of China’s”, during the discussion, he shared the successful experience of SM’s operations in both Philippines and China with its 60 years of retail gene, and was deeply agreed by people on site.

Ms. Johanna Melissa N. Rupisan

       Ms. Johanna has joined SM and focused on supermall operations for over 8 years,with direct responsibility over the construction, tenancy,grand opening or renovation of 6 SM malls in the Philippines. She is also responsible for the operations of 11 SM malls located in Metro Manila and has accumulated abundant experience in malls operations. 


       Since year 2017, she has assumed the position of Head of Operations for SM Supermalls China, and insists on steady but sure development while focusing on service improvements, tenancy upgrade and customers’ overall experience. To bring the “one-stop” shopping malls experience into new life centers, SM China has adjusted its malls’ tenant mix while introducing more experiencing brands.
